So, apparently there is a new “Social Media” called SCVNGR which seems to be popping up everywhere now. Below are two events that I’ve seen recently.
I first took notice when Sesame Place advertised that they are having a SCVNGR party on September 11th.
This is the advertisement from Sesame Place:
You are probably wondering ‘what is SCVNGR?’ SCVNGR is a mobile game that allows users to complete challenges on their iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android devices. On Saturday,
September 11, Sesame Place will be hosting a special SCVNGRevent that will invite participants to complete the Sesame Place Trek on SCVNGR for a chance to win four 2011 Season Passes. What’s more, participants will receive the special group admission rate of $25 per person if they register by Friday, September 10 at 4 p.m.To register to participate in this unique event at Sesame Place and also receive the special $25 admission rate, please call 215-752-7070 x222.This event could be a great opportunity for your family to explore the park by completing challenges that range from snap a photo of your favorite character to tricky trivia questions. The more challenges you complete, the more points you rack up and the better chance you have of winning the four 2011 Season Passes.
Now, I suspect that if you already have a season pass you will have access for FREE to be a part of this event too. I have to call to find out more details. I definitely want to go to this event. My older son would probably like it because it is a challenge and there are prizes while my younger son will just be happy to be at Sesame Place!
Aaaaaaand we’re BACK! SCVNGR Invades Social Media Day Philly on Sept 14!
That’s right, you read correctly. SCVNGR, a hot Google-funded mobile gaming startup incubated in Philadelphia’s own DreamIt Ventures, is taking Social Media Day Philly by storm!
Fifty of Philadelphia’s top bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and venues will start using the mobile location-based gaming startup’s new rewards program on the 14th to let customers earn points towards discounts and free products. Not only is SCVNGR building a special ‘Social Media Day Philly’ Trek for the occasion, you can do custom challenges at Field House and earn tons of sweet SCVNGR swag and gift cards. Now who doesn’t love swag?
For good measure, we are going to attempt the largest social check-in in history at 7pm! Can we beat 175 people??
I don’t think know if this is a family themed event, but I am definitely going to check the Sesame Place SCVNGR game out, and I will keep you posted.
Are YOU interested in activities like these? I guess depending on where they being hosted they might be very fun family outings.
Please, let me know what you think and whether or not you will be participating in any. If you have heard of other activities like this that are “new” and “exciting” please, don’t hesitate to drop me a message telling me about them!
